Using climate-smart agriculture practices to increase local food security and climate change adaption in the St. George Farming Community
Using climate-smart agriculture practices to increase local food security and climate change adaption in the St. George Farming Community
Overall, climate-smart agriculture is important for farmers across the world and especially on small islands. Small Island nations are believed to be the countries that will be most negatively affected by climate change in the near future and thus need to adopt these types of adaptation measures most urgently.

The project?s objectives are:
(i) To increase the community's awareness of the adverse effects of climate change and beneficial impact of climate-smart agriculture as well as build the capacity of the St. George Farmers Cooperative in managing projects that address community-based adaptation solutions through: conducting a public outreach program, coordinating project management capacity building, and documenting lessons learned and best practices established through the project;
(ii) To measure changes in the level of the community's vulnerability to climate change by using the VRA tool (after implementing the community-based adaptation solutions the anticipated change will be a reduction in the community's overall vulnerability); and,
(iii) To develop and implement at least two (2) community-based adaptation solutions in the St. George Farming Community that will increase the adaptive capacity of male and female farmers that are members of the St. George Farmers Cooperative and operating associated farming businesses
