The project was completed. The project will eventually supply each household with one buffalo, and they will be responsible for ensuring that they have 3 cattle in total, in order to make the bio-gas cooking a viable option for the women. Examples of possible animal-shed have been constructed by WALDA, however, these are one of the more costly items in the budget. The implementation of all of these systems in each household will be assisted and monitored by the agricultural working groups. It is very likely that this could be used as a model which can be replicated in other areas in Sulawesi.
Lesson-learned:
NGO working in the area should be highly regarded by the community and other linkages so that they could open their network and cooperation. WALDA appears to be a rather established NGO in Sulawesi, well managed, and number of active staff varied from eyar to year, depending on externally funded activities that were being carried out. Many of the fields worker are local people, contribute time to the organization as needed without reward which could be sustainable. Because of the project, WALDA have beeen approached as well by other organization such as FADO and German BORDA for other project.
