Enhancing Capacity of Communities and CSOs in Northeastern Region
Implementing NGO/CBO: The Foundation for Rural Youth (FRY) firstly, established in 1985 as Migrating Youth Project, the organization was further developed to be the Foundation for Rural Youth in 1990. In 1995, the foundation was registered as an environmental NGO under the Ministry of Environment and Natural resources, with mandate on environment and natural resources protection.
Target Population: About 9,348 families of 118 communities in 14 locations covering mountain, forest, fresh water, agricultural ecosystems, a few of which being in suburban areas, including 14 CBOs/CSOs and other relevant stakeholders in the northeastern, region. About 80% of community members earned their living through agricultural practice.
Main activities to be carried out:
1. Conducting stakeholders workshops to upgrade concept papers and to make more public the environment governance
2.Monitoring and evaluating of supported projects
3. Conducting mid-course evaluation workshop
4. Compiling experiences, data & information and innovation of supported projects
5. Initiating networks for future collaborations
Anticipated Results and Indicators:
1. Increased capacity, technical and institutional, of 50 persons comprising leaders of CSOs/CBOs and representatives of targeted communities from 14 locations, evinced by ability to upgrade concept papers into full-blown, NSC-approved proposals.
2. All approved projects being implemented satisfactorily in the landscape.
3. Emergence SGP data-base network comprising parties such as 16 regional environmental offices, provincial natural resources and environment offices, academic institutes, CSOs, community scholars and relevant private sector.
4. Establishment of close group face book of Thailand GEF SGP with about 600 members
5. One set of compiled knowledge and experience for dissemination
