Tiyamike Community Based Organisation lies along Salima North West of T/A Khombedza in Msalanyama Village. Land degradation has been a major concern for the catchment area.The Chitala area faces numerous development challenges such as severe deforestation and land degradation,extreme poverty for the majority of the people,limited opportunities for alternative incomes,high population growth,inadequate access to social services and generally poor governance infranstructure.Due to these chronic problems,Tiyamike works with communities and partners to address these and make life more bearable for both humans and the environment.
Projects main objectives:To enhance livelihood opportunities and well-being of rural communities in the Chitala area through innovative approaches-To build capacity of local leaders and communities and other stake holders in collaborative management of natural resources in the area.-To strengthen istitutional framework and governance structure of the Tiyamike and communities in the Chitala area.-To increase access to off-grid solar electricity for lighting and powering small gadgets.-To increase tree cover through afforestation and community conservation of existing trees in the area.-To empower women and youth for inctreased economic activity by increasing access to capital
