Gender Focus
Participatory project approach will be always maintained with available labour inputs of all family members in the village, particularly women will be encouraged to lead roles in home garden activities and marketing. Women and men together will take the leading role in tree planting activities and all related activities, and hence the gender unbalance will not affect the project in any way.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Throughout the community awareness process, the community will be enlightened on importance of biodiversity and global environment challenges through a series of awareness programmes, capacity building training, handouts, providing expert advice, field visits and on-the-job experience. Public awareness would be made available through web articles and in the Annual Report of the South Asia Partnership Sri Lanka for 2013-2014 and 2014- 2015 to draw the attention of the public on global environment challenges. School children and local government officers will be made aware of the importance of environment conservation and sustainable agriculture.
