The project aims to identify the national circumstances and priorities of the country vis-à-vis the project document for the relevant Operational Phase; provide stakeholders with a framework document to understand the priorities for SGP funding for strengthened country relevance and ownership; provide a strategic framework for allocating resources, especially selection of SGP projects, through a bio-geographic and/or thematic focus; serve as the framework for Country Program operations and guiding program implementation; and constitute the basis for the assessment of country program achievements and impact through a thorough reading, assimilation and summarization of the relevant reports, project document, OP5 CPS; site visit of selected sample project sites for first hand-appraisal of grant project performance including focus group discussions with members of the intended beneficiary communities in the landscape(s); structured discussions with key informants at the National Steering Committee, Technical Advisory Group, project implementing civil society organizations/non-government organizations, relevant local officials, primary stakeholders/partners, and UNDP Country Office; and synthesis of the findings towards SWOT analysis to provide the basic framework to support decision making process in developing the strategy.
