Kainake community and conservation Park
The CBO located in the Motuna Huyono Tokunutui Constituency in the south of Autonomous Region of Bougainville, is awarded a planning grant of US$3,000 to facilitate development of Full Proposal for project titled Kainake community and conservation Park. The initiative will contribute to addressing land degradation and sustainable forest management and alleviating threats to biodiversity and the impacts of Climate Change. The project intends to raise awareness on the importance of environment and conservation, meanwhile undertaking a concept called ?Children of Trees?, an extra-curricular program that would engage school children in tree planning. The project will further collaborate with existing research institutions such as PNG Institute of Biological Research (PNGIBR), PNG Forest Research Institute (PNGFRI), Conservation International (CI), and University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) to ensure the conservation best practices are applied.
