Environmental Protection through Forestation in Gambiri Deserts of Nangarhar Province
Environmental Protection through Forestation in Gambiri Deserts of Nangarhar Province?, focused on increasing the forest cover, creating a natural wind breaks to control desertification and prevent soil erosion. With the implementation of this project, a natural habitat established for biodiversity in the area. The project contributed to improving the livelihood of communities living in and around the desert areas. The trees serves as windbreaks and protect the agriculture lands which covered by sand before this plantation. Reforestation enhancing crop production, protect people and livestock, and benefit soil and water conservation. Reforestation is also improving livestock in the areas.

Project sustainability
A forest committee has been established which will be registered a formal entity to protect the planted trees.
The grantee partner has agreed to continue the oversight of the project for another years. A letter of commitment from the community has been secured for the protection of forest.
Notable Community Participation
The grantee partner organization is established by a group of youth. The project involved youth of Dashte Gamberi, and they have been provided employment opportunity.
