Capacity - Building Component

1. development using information technology with local knowledge 2. restoring "Dae Por Tu", a traditional ritual of Karen (indigenous group) 3. enforcing environmental policies to the Local Administration level, and to educational institutions.

A seminar with S'gaw Karen by using their language.

Forest management by the community and the government using indigenous group's idea, then distribute the created pamphlets and academic publications.

Have a plan to accumulate and develop, connecting with IUCN

Linkages gef projects

Have a plan to develop bigger GEF grant on the upper Ping River Watershed, cooperating with government services, civil society, academic organizations, and public organizations

Replication of project activities

Replications of project to 5 nearby communities and 4 schools.

Notable Community Participation

The mainstay students continually participate in the activities, starting with the project orientation.

Policy Impact

There are three levels, which are national, provincial, and district level.

Gender Focus

Trying to destroy the traditional idea of work that each gender should do, for example, women should do laundry while men should do farming or a harder work.

Project Results

Co-management: there are sub-district, district and provincial co-management activities.
Establishment of network/ fund/ new institute: During the project period, a renewable energy fund for the community was established.
Concrete outcomes/ achivements: 50 check dams were built/ banana trees were planted./ Solar cell farm in 5 communities.
Lesson Learned: People in the community are beginning to do co-working./ Every community attended the meeting.
