Project sustainability
Activities in aspect of organic farming, renewable energy usage, green market,and income saving are able to sustain by themselves. However, there are more requirement in creating more green spaces apart from organic farming to make the project sustainable. They would build knowledge base, understanding, and create awareness for the committee and members to see the connection and importance of natural resources, environments, careers, and life styles.
Inovative Financial Mechanisms
Create and publish "9 years Hak Nam Jang's journey in the green market" to distribute to customers and other organizations. It is to share experiences and successful stories of the project.
Linkages gef projects
Develop projects on their own with no linkages.
Gender Focus
Most members and committees of the group are women. However, the group has recieved well support from many men in the community as well.
Planning gef grant
No actual plan in expanding the organic farming. However, the group aims to scale up project of green space because members still has not really see the importance and connection of environment and their lifestyles.
Replication of project activities
Reforestation activity implemented by the project gained attentions from both government and private sectors. Activities that has reforested in Hak Nam Jang community and ten other communities of Baan giw district created forestation trend in other areas especially in Mae Tha district. Thus, the project activity of forestation has replicated in Mae Tha district to contribute to global warming.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Set up an exhibition, green market and set up booths to sell products. TV production from certain organizations to promote the project on Nations TV 22. Publish books. Encourage and welcome different group and organizations to visit the site. Members and committees of the group go promote the project and products to other organizations and communities.
Policy Impact
The group tries to encourage project activities as part of the local policy and other organizations in district and provincial levels. The group tries to promote and plan to produce policy by showcasing and presenting the projects in many occasions. They present the project to different organizations to gain more support and became well known among public.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
The market called "Green Market" is occurred. The market sells farmers' organic vegetables to people who want healthy food, such as doctors, nurses, and relatives of the patients in Mae Ta Hospital. There are 7 places selling the organic vegetable.
Capacity - Building Component
The project has a capacity in managing themselves, especially to financial management within the family in aspects of daily incomes, weekly incomes and monthly incomes. Thus, members of the group requires less supports in finances.
The capacity that needs improvement is capacity of members and committee in order to manage the group themselves. Previously, they were not strong enough to self management the group without strong leaders.
Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
There are no specific activties that include participation of indigenous people. People who are involved are people who live in town with no other indigenous group. However, it is very difficult to invite people even from the same native group to participate.
Notable Community Participation
Youth accumulation called Hug Green (Hug Nam Jang).
Primary and secondary school students accumulation called Hug Nam Jang Junior.
A camp for youth teaching them to preserve energy and environment. There are 3 gifted students participate.
Project Results
- Increased in members of the project.
- Organic farming: reduce chemical remaining in vegetables and environment. Also, reduce carbon emission for 665.87 kg/co2/rai.
- Green market: established more market branches to sell products, earn more incomes from the green markets. Better management of the green market.
- Income savings
- Alternative energy usage in agricultural sector:
bicycle water pumping helps reducing expenses and carbon emission./ Solar cell water pumping helps reducing expenses and carbon emission./ Creation of biogass from leftover which helps saving expenses and reducing pollutions from natural gass./ Effective energy stove that helps reducing the use of woods for 6,570 kg. This saves around 3,000 kg of woods per year./ Lastly, forestation (of 13,200 trees)helps reduce carbon dioxide emissions for 316,800 kg/co2 per year.
- Involvement and support from different organizations. It led to signing an agreement and contract with other groups to sell and exchange organic products.
