Improving Agro Ecology and Livelihood Approaches for PTG - Sahariya in Guna District
Project Objectives:
The primary objective of the project will be improving overall lifestyle of Saharia by improving livelihood opportunities.
1. To improve Agro Ecology and ensuring sustainable biodiversity.
2. To strengthen CBOs for extending the benefits of Govt. Programs and schemes for livelihood of Sahariya especially related to agriculture and natural resources, NREGA.
3. To promote the use of smokeless chulha for reduce dependence on forest.
4. To improve water, sanitation & hygiene knowledge in community and mobilize SBM (Svachh Bhart Mission) fund for toilets construction in project village.
Project Activities:
1. Demonstration of honey processing units, facilitating marketing linkage and demonstrate value addition in MFP collection and marketing.
2. Facilitating and motivating villagers to have Gram Sabhas, social audit and Jansunwai so that the government service reach could be ensured.
3. Conducting experience sharing workshop with stakeholders, district & block level workshop with line department for sharing project objectives, baseline & PRA findings.
4. Capacity building of staff on WASH and Sanitation behaviour change.
Project Objectives:
1. 800 families will start using smokeless chulhas (cook stoves).
2. Enhanced traditional skills of 1400 saharia, tribal community members will result in improving their lifestyle.
3. Agriculture productivity will increase yield up to 1.5 to 2 quintals per hectare through improved agricultural ecology and sustainable biodiversity.
4. Introduction of diversified agricultural pattern through change in cropping pattern with mixed cropping in 110 hectare area.
5. Government system will work more effectively through regular convergence and networking and 1000 families will get benefit from different government schemes.

Project Characteristics and Results
Inovative Financial Mechanisms
During the project various knowledge management tools will be developed, including various case studies, IEC, Videos, Surveys and their utilization will be conducted. Communication of results will be facilitated through case studies, success stories reports, newsletters and print and electronic media.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Exposure visits for women at SGP-CEE projects. Mason training for constructions of improved smokeless cook- stoves and construction of toilets will be done. Selecting and training 8 cadres from each village regarding the leadership abilities and providing knowledge on Govt. Program. Conducting experience sharing workshop for stakeholder and district & block level workshop with line department for sharing project objectives, baseline & PRA findings.
