Alternative income generation activities for Mt. Rinjani National Park?s buffer zone community in Gangga, Lombok
Project goal:
To strengthen the economic condition of the community live surround Mt. Rinjani National Park?s buffer zone. The strong alternative income activities will hopefully reduce the dependency of the community of National Park?s nature resources. The success story will be based for the next policy of the national park to be implemented, especially in the concern of clear border line in buffer zone.
Project objective :
1.To develop community based economic activity, which could be reliable as primary source of income
2.To reduce the dependency of local community from national park?s nature resources by providing an alternative income generation activity
3.To encourage better land management system
4.To increase nature conservation effort done by local community
5.To increase integrated farming concept to be adopted by local community
6.To increase local community?s income and welfare
7.To be a model of local community economic strengthening activities, which could be replicated to other buffer zone?s area
Activities to be carried out under the project :
1.Preparation.
a)Strengthening human resource and CBOs
b)Raising nature conservation concept awareness in local community
c)Constructing pens for cattle farming and distribute the offspring
d)Land preparation and distributing the plants seeds (for cattle fodder)
e)Constructing cattle / household waste dumpsters to be used as organic manure
2.Local training and education in the field.
a)CBO management, networking development
b)Land management system with integrated farming concept
c)Intensive cattle farming system
d)Maximizing the used of household / cattle waste to be organic manure
3.Outreach Approach.
a)Networking - formal (related government institutions) and non-formal leaders
b)Collective pens - to be maintained by every CBOs participated in this project
c)Revolving fund - every CBOs will receive cows as starting capital
4.Technical Assistance.
a)Integrated farming techniques : planting, cattle farming, waste management
b)Small scale industry management : simple financing system, reporting, administration.
5.Evaluation and Reporting.

7.Integrated farming model could be replicated in other areas of buffer zone
