Improving capacity and raising awareness on biodiversity conservation and participation of community in forestry protection management; to support sub district People?s Committee to transfer land for Co Tu ethnic minority community in two villages ? Ta Lang and Gian Bi
? Activity 1.1: Supported sub district People?s Committee to transfer forest land to community in two villages in Ta Lang and Gian Bi (site survey, planning, mapping, community meeting, meeting with relevant organizations in agriculture environmental resource, forestry protection fields, sub district, communal level government agencies)
? Activity 1.2: Developed forestry protection village convention for community in two villages, in which, it is to mainstream cultural traditions into resource management and forestry protection
? Activity 1.3: Organized two capacity building training sessions for people in two villages on forestry protection, management (forestry protection management, prevention from forest fire)

2. Maintaining, restoring, and promoting cultural characters of Co Tu ethnic minority toward the community ?based eco-tourism development
? Activity 2.1: Established Co Tu cultural conservation clubs (performance club, traditional cuisine club, weaving club)
? Activity 2.2: Reproduced cultural space for community to develop tourism products (gong, clothes, dosser, bow and arrows and other stuff, etc?): this stuff will partly be bought and partly contributed by local man worked days. People may self-decide the product price and contribute to make a community-based fund if tourists buy them.
? Activity 2.3: Organized the capacity training for people in living styles, daily living with proper sanitation and awareness of environmental protection in community to make a good space for tourist attraction

3. Improving income sources of Co Tu ethnic minority in two villages
? Activity 3.1: Developed preference groups (planting, breeding, and farming, forestry). As a result, there are 3 ? 4 preference groups in planting, breeding
? Activity 3.2: Developed income model for community in two villages (mainly for plant, animals such as: banana planting, garden improvement, breeding chicken, pig, etc?)
? Activity 3.3: Organized the capacity training on planting and breeding technique for community in two villages
? Activity 3.4: Established income development Fund for community in two villages
? Activity 3.5: Support with tree varieties for newly planting in the area of 2 ha forestry in two villages to conserve local plant varieties and support income development for local people, and provide landscapes for tourism.

? Procured 10 firewood stoves for people in 2 villages to serve tourist
? Support to conserving banana variety: 50 banana trees for people in Ta Lang and Gian Bi villages in Hoa Bac commune.
? Procurement of tools for community tourism
? Organized training activities to improve English skills for the community to attract and develop community based tourism services.
? Organized cleaning activities for the community
? Developed a Fanpage for Hoa Bac Community Tourism: https://www.facebook.com/eco.coturism/ (which is now in effective operation and has more than 500 likes)
? Coordinated with Hoa Vang District Radio and Television in publishing news articles and reports on tourism development in Hoa Bac commune
? Coordinated with Hoa Vang District Radio and Television to develop a Video to wrap up the project activities implemented.
? Mobilized enterprises to donate 106 traditional costumes for children worth VND 50 million.
? Hoa Bac commune has maintained and improved brocade weaving skills for women in two villages, with the training cost of VND 102 million.
? Hoa Bac Commune cooperates with the Culture and Sports Department of Hoa Vang district to organize an annual cultural and sports festival in Hoa Bac commune.
? Hoa Bac Commune Women's Union organized propaganda on environmental sanitation, sorting waste at source, distributing eco-bags for women to use when shopping (Avoid using plastic bags to cause environmental pollution).
? Commune leaders regularly organize people in Ta Lang and Gian Bi villages to rehearse the dances of the Co Tu ethnic people, the festivals, the beat of the gongs, the dancing of the da da, Ly song.
? Hoa Vang district government supports the development of CBT homestays in Gian Bi village with the interest-free loan amount of VND 300,000,000 and opened on October 4, 2019 (Homestay Alang Nhu): https://goo.gl/maps/NTm9agxhubHncup56
Implementation progress and results achieved:
? Two village forest protection regulations were developed and approved by the community.
? 02 training courses for people in 02 villages on forest protection and management (forest protection management, forest fire prevention and control)
? 02 Forest protection and management teams in 02 villages were established and put into operation.
? 3 groups of cuisine, arts and knitting were formed with the participation of the 2 village communities, village, commune officials and the Project Steering Committee. The decision to establish the group was signed by the People's Committee of Hoa Bac Commune and promulgated the operation regulation in March 2017.
? 01 Area for displaying items of Co Tu people are formed and maintained.
? Training for people on how to live, hygienic activities and environmentally conscious in the community to create good spaces to attract visitors is conducted.
? The festival of "Swearing in the sworn" and "Celebrating new rice" associated with the tradition and conservation of the national culture of Co Tu (held before 01 festival, and 01 festival will be held in the 2nd year of the Project ) organized with a support fee of VND 25,000,000, together with the People's Committee of Hoa Vang district for Co Tu compatriots in 03 villages of Ta Lang, Gian Bi (Hoa Bac commune) and Phu Tuc (Hoa Phu commune).
? The report on tourism potential research in the two villages with the comments of experts and stakeholders from the departments and People's Committees of Districts and Communes, together with the Project Steering Committee, was accepted at the end of April. 2017.
? 20 households were trained to improve community tourism skills (tourism service skills, tourism product marketing skills and negotiation skills).
? A memorandum of understanding with 3-4 tourism businesses to promote tourism in Ta Lang - Giàn Bi. (between DN and Commune PC).
? 02 sets of gongs and 20 traditional costumes were purchased and handed over to people in 02 villages at the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding on community-based tourism development.
? 06 great posters for cultural preservation and public tourism promotion for 02 villages were completed.
? 1 Livelihood fund is established and operated.
? 3 models of raising goats, raising black pigs, and planting guava for people were formed
? 26 households were trained in farming and husbandry methods.
? Primary and secondary school students in Ta Lang and Tram Bi villages have knowledge about biodiversity and cultural preservation of Co Tu.
? Representatives of the relevant departments, travel and tourism businesses in the city of Da Nang have more knowledge about the tourism and cultural
potential of the Co Tu Hoa Bac people. People in 2 villages shared knowledge about community tourism.
? People are equipped with knowledge on how to use and maintain computers and connect to the Internet to promote tourism products. 2 computers and 2 USB Dcom 3G and 2 1-year subscription packages are supported for 2 villages.
? 2 Directions, 2 Instruction boards, 2 posters, 2 wooden boards for community tourism promotion in 2 villages were completed and used.
? 4 Sleeping bags, 2 Tents, 10 Trekking sticks, 5 bicycles for community tourism are purchased and used.
? Officials and people are involved in learning about community tourism experiences.
? People are learning and improving English ability to serve community tourism.
? People are supported with some equipment to build 2 homestays for local people. Local people have been equipped with skills as well as knowledge to be able to perform homestay activities
? People in the community have been equipped with the knowledge and skills in the operation and management of eco-tourism business in the locality.
? Co Tu culture is introduced to friends all over the world.
