The forest stripe also protects the soil from freezing, as it spreads and thickens surface snow relatively evenly. In view of its strengths mentioned above, the NSC members supported this project which aims to establish forest strips for protection in Orkhon soum of Selenge aimag, Batsumber soum of Tuv aimag and Tunkhel village?s crop field. The project will teach its participants how to plant and look after trees and bushes besides plants. The establishment of the forest strip will also reduce soil degradation, protect the soil and slow down desertification in the target soums.
