The project grants resulted on comprehensive community awareness on conservation and agro-forestry. PSP-SDM had helped push the local government to participate in the follow-up of the project with seedlings contribution and other programs related to farming or cattlery. The program also produced positive impact from the community by emegernce of Village Advisory Team (Tim Pembina Desa) to support monitoring of the program. PSp-SDM helped to support capacity building strengthening for the Advisory Team and case-study visits to Gangga (Lombok Barat) and Sumbawa island. The community learned to also increased their income, while working on "longterm" saving with the conservation plants, they cultivated their land with productive plants that could inserted income to maintain their households. The community already plants 8.900 seeds of Gaharu and turned the 27,8 ha forest area into productive land.
Challenges: how to test the success of preserving gaharu trees, since it takes approximately four years for gaharu to grow and gubal to harvest. It is important to have efficient multi-stakeholders collaboration to monitor the future progress of the project, not just farmers, but supervisory team, and field officers from related (government) institutions.
