Kainake Conservation and Research Park
This CBO was established purposely to promote conservation and natural resource management work already being undertaken in the Siwai constituency of South Bougainville. Community efforts and work is being coordinated by a local conservation management committee with technical support from the Executives of the organisation. This project will review conservation arrangements with the view to promoting research and documentation of traditional knowledge related to native plants. A recent biodiversity assessment done by kainake project in december 2015 identified two flag species: Monkey faced bat and the giant tree rat, both listed as endangered on the IUCN redlist. This project will also promote their research and finally look into improving livelihood options for the locals.
