Mangrove rehabilitation
Planning Grant was awarded for the proponent to further run consultative processes of engaging its village councils and all members of the community including women, youth, people with disability and all to discuss ways forwards in revamping one of the most coastal mangrove reliant community for livelihoods. Lotosoa mangroves is heavily degraded from poor infrastructural roads with blocked or minimal flushing or fresh water from mangrove to the sea, human activities, and natural disasters depleting mangroves. In this process, technical partners from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and technical experts sourced locally were able to facilitate community conversations on ways to reduce the negative impacts of these activities on mangroves. A full proposal was submitted for NSC approval. At least 100 people were consulted by the group to finalise priority areas to be addressed in the proposal.
