Project goal:
To stimulate the growth of nature conservation (mangrove rehabilitation activity) done by local community through pilot project
Project objective :
1. To introduce training model : from farmer to farmer
2. To promote the community based nature conservation activity
3. In the long term, to increase local community?s income and welfare?s
4. To maintain biodiversity in coastal area

Activities to be carried out under the project :

1. Preparation.
a) Social preparation - networking (with non-formal and formal leaders - government
institution)
b) CBO strengthening - coastal area management knowledge
c) Setting demoplot

2. Local training and education in the field.
a) Train the trainers on mangrove conservation techniques
b) Coastal area management with regards to nature conservation
c) Planting and maintaining techniques

3. Outreach Approach.
a) Networking - technical assistance from government institution
b) Comparison study to Sinjai (community based nature conservation activities)
c) Media development - brochures, slides

4. Technical Assistance.
a) Motivator training in coastal nature conservation effort
b) Project mentoring

5. Evaluation and Reporting.

1. Yayasan Cipta Mandiri Indonesia (YCMI)
2. Local community in Cimpu village, Suli sub-district, Luwu district, South Sulawesi

Anticipated result of the project:
1. Mangrove to be planted in coastal line
2. Better coastal area management system to be adopted by local community
3. Implementation of mangrove forest conservation organized by local community
4. 30 farmers to be trained as motivators and skillful in dealing with mangrove
conservation effort
5. Well developed training media as a way to raise community awareness in nature
conservation effort
6. Coastal biodiversity to be maintained
