Grupo Agropecuário Lombo Caleceria Praia Branca
Paradigm shift is a constant and the agriculture, including the overall environment, are not immune to it. Agroecology today has been one of the strongest environmental approaches, which aims to preserve and implement articulate ways to sustainable and equitably use natural resources. This vision, among other things, proposes the implementation of sound soil and water management practices, in addition to promote productivity, stability, sustainability, and equability of agro systems on the area in question.
From this perspective, the current project proposes the implementation of best water management practices (implementation of micro irrigation systems) on an irrigated perimeter of Praia Branca, in order to guarantee the livelihood of s special farmers and its beneficiaries. Training on pest management and sustainable agriculture methods will be implemented as well. The overall beneficiaries are people with disabilities, special needs children, and senior citizens on a local Red Cross managed nursing home. 16 households will be directly benefited, with the majority of people with special needs from Tarrafal municipality, including 56 farmers working on the irrigated perimeter of Praia Branca.
The ADREPTI-SN association will manage the project in collaboration with beneficiaries, Tarrafal Municipality, Regional Partners Committee, Monte Gordo Natural Park Area, and the Delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
