The main objective of the project is to demonstrate innovate approaches to enhance livelihood opportunities of poor through sustainable management of watermills in selected project areas.
- To protect, conserve and ensure sustainable use of natural resources and ecosystem services to maintain the livelihoods of the poor.
- Encouraging the installment of improved watermill (IWM) at new sites rather than just improving traditional water mills.
- Establishing quality management system.
- Improve living conditions of the rural households, especially of the traditional water millers and women users.

Inovative Financial Mechanisms
Activities and results will be published in the local newspaper. Awareness creation will be done regarding Improved water mill (IWM) technology through establishment of orientation and demonstration sites, documentaries, production and distribution of various information, brochures and leaflets.
Policy Impact
Links will be established with Jammu & Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) and subsidy will be accessed. Linked up with Local MLA funds and Local Panchayat and accessing funds of Rs. 18,30,500/-. Letter from MLA is provided in support.
