Non chemical Pesticide Management with small and marginal women farmers in tribal rain-fed clusters in Kannod block of Dewas, Madhya Pradesh.
The project aim towards reducing the chemical stress specifically on soils and agricultural ecosystem by community adoption of Non-chemical Pesticide Management (NPM) practices thereby causing a positive effect on the cost of cultivation reducing it to sustainable levels. The program will develop a model of end to end solutions to small and marginal farmers willing to shift to Non- chemical farming thus affecting agricultural biodiversity.

Project sustainability
- The CBO is completely owned by SHGs made up of local women and all the decision making is done by these SHGs through SHG collectives and through Pragati sameetis.
- Technical support is being provided by SPS but all the decisions of implementation are taken by these women belonging local communities.
- Some portion of support staff?s salary is borne by this SHG collective and they are the ones who take final decisions on suggestions made by this staff.
- The selection of beneficiaries of different activities is done by the collective on criterion set by them for such selection.
Gender Focus
1000(500 males, 500 females) community members will be involved in the project activities and will be directly supported. Women will be involved in decision making related to agriculture. Communication and decision making will be done through democratic group meetings- women self help groups and women farmers' group. Self Help Groups promoted by the NGO are affiliated to Department of Women and Child Welfare for providing meals to Schools and Anganwadis in the location. The NGO have good linkages with banks as more than 3,000 members will have their accounts in the bank and they can also access loan facility of about Rs. 1,50,00,000/- This will enable women farmers make a shift from chemical intensive methods of crop nutrition and pest management towards practicing Non chemical pesticide management methods.
