Adoption of Energy Efficient devices and promotion of off-farm livelihood options for the hill tribals in Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh.
The project aims at combining socio economic interventions with dissemination of energy efficient (EE) household devices. It will promote the adoption of EE cooking and water heating devices among approximately 1100 schedules caste and other backward caste households (out of a total of 1900) and promote planting of disappearing wild varieties of bitter apricot and peach trees on private land of villagers in the Kullu block, Himachal Pradesh. The goal of the project is to contribute to lowering the rural carbon footprint and conserve declining populations of wild fruit tree species through local community involvement specially women. The project will enhance incomes of the targeted households particularly SC women, who are among the poorest and most socially disadvantaged in the demographic socio-economic profile of the panchayats where the project will operate.
