The overall objective of the grant MON/SGP/OP6/Y2/CORE/BD/2016/18 has been to set up a small community based tourist camp as a demonstration place in the territory of Uran Baigali community protected area which is one of the 29 community protected forest areas that surround the country-wide famous Noyon Uul, long standing sacred mountain and conduct community based training and demonstration activities, involving 35 potential CBOs from Bulgan, Selenge, Khentii, Uvurkhangai and Dornod provinces as participants to the project in order for them to be well trained and get appropriate knowledge of community based tourism to practice upon return to their respective sites. The grantee has successfully set up a community camp, developed a so called Countryside Ger Programme that contains a range of tourism, recreational and educational activities including Mongolian traditional custom and folk games and conducted a number of trainings and demonstrations with involvement of school children and local tourists. Upon completion of main grant activities the grantee in a group of tourism experts has visited some sites of selected participants in the above said provinces who long try to develop community based tourism and gave advice and assisted them to develop their own tourism programme. Since them the grantee has tirelessly being worked with each of potential participants to network them and make a step forward together.

In fact, the grant has involved representatives of 35 community protected areas from five provinces. Although we can?t say that all of them have been influenced through this grant, there is an assumption that at least 10 of them have been influenced by now. It is expected that more will be influenced when a network is created and more collectively organized activities are conducted in the near future. There are two community protected areas namely, Uran Baigali and Bat which have been directly influenced and benefited much more than others. Another long-standing community conserved area named Noyon Uul sacred mountain has also been influenced as local tourists and school children in groups often visit this mountain and cleaning and awareness raising activities and campaigns.
