Income-generation for forest communities through eco-tourism.
The project will cover 35 forestry CBOs in Bulgan, Selenge, Khentii, Uvurkhangai and Dornod aimags and conduct the following activities: - Implement a special Countryside Ger programme relying on the resources available at the forestry CBOs. Under the said programme, children will spend 5-10 days in the CBOs that have livestok where they will be taught the Mongolian culture and way of life, as well as traditional Mongolian games. They will also learn to pull a foal or calf, ride a horse, herd cattle, milk a cow, prepare dairy products and identify cattle by appearance. They will learn folk songs and wander in the nature; - Study the resources available at the CBOs and come up with a travel itinerary, the relevant programme and services; - Organize a capacity building training for the CBOs; - Develop a programme and a plan of work and handle marketing and management. - Increase the incomes of the CBOs? members through piloting the above tourism product.
