National Protected Areas Laving-Lavern is located along the mountain of Savannakhet province, which covers the geographical location of two districts such as Sepone and Vilabouly. National Protected Areas Laving-Lavern is also rich of the biodiversity with many kinds of wild plant and rare wildlife like Pseudoryx ngetinhensis, Nesolagus timminsi, Muntiacus vuquangensis, Pygathrix nemaeus, Muntiacus truongsonensis, Chrotogale owstoni and Rheinardia ocellate. Although the biodiversity is significant on both national and international levels, but the management from government side still needs the support due to lack of fund and human resources. The main occupation of peoples in these areas are farming, agriculturalist, which are based on natural resources for daily food and earning such as animal hunting, fishing and to collect the non-timber forest products to sell. However, the high demand from the local and international markets lead to the illegal logging and animal hunting for the commercial trade, which is causing to the natural resources declination day by day. The project proponent together with provincial and local authorities aim to train, raising awareness on natural recourses conservation and the use of forest in the sustainable manner to the local people in target district.
