Increasing income for the local community through sustainable harvesting and improving the quality of the fresh and processed blueberry products in Iballe commune
In certain areas of Albania, collection of medicinal plants and forest fruits provides a significant income for the local communities. Diversification of income combined with projects that help the locals to increase the added value of their products are also very useful in decreasing the lure of illegal sources of income such as cannabis cultivation.
The project will focus on the sustainable collection and processing of wild blueberry. It will provide 20 groups of farmers with collection tools, simple drying facilities as well as will promote production and development of local brand of processed products.
