IMPROVING RESILIENCE OF SERENGETI AGRO-PASTORALIST COMMUNITY FOR MINIMIZING ECOLOGICAL AND RESOURCE RELATED CONFLICTS.
Project?s primary objective:
The main objective of the proposed project is to contribute to the transformation of the agro-pastoral communities towards Climate Smart Agricultural practices for livelihood improvement and reduce resource sharing related conflicts in the Serengeti Ecosystem.
Project specific objectives:
? to increase the resilience of communities around Serengeti to adaptation to climate change through climate smart agro-ecological farming.
? to undertake vulnerability mapping of exposed and sensitive climate impacted agro-pastoralist communities in Serengeti.
? to improve agricultural production for smallholder farmers through demonstration and promotion of high value cropping systems using drip irrigation .
? to raise community awareness on water source protection for sustainable utilization.
Implementation strategies:
The project will be informed by scientific research especially on undertaking vulnerability Assessment and the other part of the project will be implemented through the involvement of different stakeholders including government officials across scales and levels from inception to conclusion; governed by day to day monitoring and evaluation exercises.
