CONSOLIDATION OF SCHOOL WASH PROJECT IN MOSHI DISTRICT COUNCIL IN
KILIMANJARO REGION
Project?s Primary Objective:
To consolidate school WASH Programme in 10 schools by improving water supply and teachers latrines.
Implementation Strategies:
1. Renovate Teachers? latrines to improve its sanitary conditions
2. Connect water supply to Teachers? latrines to improve environmental cleanliness at schools
3. Involve the regional administration in project monitoring to ensure quick completion of activities
Project Sustainability Strategies:
1. Need-based development activity. Since the supported activity is critical for the needs of the school community, users will make sure that it lasts long.
2. Designs of the facilities have been formulated by Government Architects. Therefore durability is guaranteed
3. A Committee involving parents, teachers and students has been put in place to follow up on day to day O & M for the facilities
Anticipated project Results:
1. The supported schools would provide effective demonstration in WASH for wider uptake by other schools
2. Improved WASH in the supported schools will increase environmental sanitation in and around the school environment
3. Women Teachers who are the majority in the 10 schools would not miss classes during their menstruation days
4. Improved working environment for teachers will boost their working morale. This will lead to improved performance.
