COMMUNITY BASED CONSERVATION PROJECT IN KAJENGWA
Previous Project for which scale up is applied:

Title: Conservation and Sustainable Land Management in Makunduchi Zanzibar

Results achieved:

? Conservation education disseminated to 25,000 people in Shehias of Makunduchi
? Over 100,000 trees planted in community woodlots, school compounds and household farms
? 200 beehives established
? Woodfuel crisis addressed. Availability by wood fuel increased by 40%

Scale Up Actions:

? Strengthen conservation education to 25,000 people
? Increase tree planting initiatives by planting another 100,000 trees
? Increase beehives from 200 to 400
? Increase use of wood fuel efficient stoves to at least 50% households in Makunduchi


Expected results:

? Increased conservation awareness will increase environmentally responsible lifestyles by local residents
? Increased tree planting will green the area and increase availability of wood fuel
? Increased beekeeping activities will improve nutrition to the local communities and provide avenue for income generation
