The GEF SGP set the stage for the Fiji GEF 5 R2R project. The grant allowed for the establishment, training and building the capacity of the YMST committees at village and district levels. The community component of the GEF 5 R2R project utilized these YMST committees as entry points into the community to implement the community component of the project. It was easy to access and work with the community as the community through their YMST reps, already have access to environment/natural resource management information, through the awareness programmes conducted by SGP.
