ENVIRON VISION III (Enhance environmental advocacy and contribute carbon sequestration capacity by improving degraded land in urban areas through plantation of SMRITI BRICHHYA)
The Smriti Brichha or Batika is an unique endevour to establish urban gardens by utilising waste land in the urban areas. The concept of the project is to acquire unused land from Municipility or schools to be developed into a model Memoir Gardens. When the tree planting design is completed interested tree planters were invited to plant trees in the memories of loved one. They can also gift a tree to others and their names will be placed in a small sign boards. While doing so, the tree planters need to pay Rs 1,000 (USD91), which will be used to care take the garden.
The project proposed to establish 3 such gardens by mobilising local youths.

Project Characteristics and Results
Replication of project activities
Memoir gardens are being replicating 3 places- Siraha, Danusha and Dang (2 Ha) where as in near future, it will be replicated in additional two places in Dhanagadhi and Kohalpur.
Project sustainability
The project site in Chakhundole, Kathmandu is being planned to be introduced as a touristic pilgrim site in near future. Along with the co-operation of different government bodies, plantation of 54 pairs of Ficus bengalensis commonly known as Banyan or Bar and Ficus religiosa commonly known as Peepal is going to be done which shall cover further area of around 2 ha. This shall not only enhance the nature but also add value in a religious point of view as Bar and Peepal are considered to be very sacred in Hindu Religion.
