Bat Manure Processing Project
Ban Phoulan, Viengphoukha District, Luangnamtha Province is a home place of Khamou tribe. The main occupation of people here is farming and hunting, this village is in rural area, which is rich of natural resources and wild animals. The most outstanding one in here is the huge amount of bat around hundred thousand that are living inside a cave of the mountain area at this village so there are full of bat manure around hundred thousand tons. Bat is one kind of the interesting animal and it is important for ecosystems such as can help to spread seeding, flower pollination, help to reduce the number of insect pests and bat manure is a high-quality fertilizer for plants. However, number of bat is in risk because people are hunting for food. Even though it has the rule to conserve, but village authority still not strict on monitoring and survey that are linked to the poverty of villager. Therefore, the invasion into the conservation area of bat is still prevalent. The project aims to collaborate with the villagers in Ban Phoulan for building a bat manure fertilizer community factory, in order to make community take the bat manure from inside the cave to sell and produce as a bat manure fertilizer and it will become the product that can sell to agriculturalists. The main purpose is to use in rice field, rubber plantation and other plants garden as well as to generate for household income.
