Kavuzi Enviro-Energy Project
Kavuzi Enviro-Energy Project
Malawi is currently facing a number of challenges of generating hydro electrical power to meet the demand and due to this failure a lot of property damage has due to such failure. Solar energy has not been equally relied because most of people in Malawi think that solar energy is unreliable. Due to these problems Kavuzi has a potential to generate 40kW through hydro power to supply to 2,500 people in Nkhatabay. This will reduce over dependency on natural resource more especially cooking
Kavuzi and Nkhatabay Landscape/lakescape areas natural resources are not spared, it is being rapidly depleted and degraded due to combined effects of fish farming, population growth, poor land management practices, poverty, shifting cultivation, charcoal and firewood contribute to this environment degradation. Most people think that they can alleviate their poverty through fish farming, charcoal and selling of firewood. Our women are the main victims of natural resources, mismanagement because of the gender roles, which they play in resource utilization. Despite being the main victims of natural resources degradation, women remain largely absent at all levels of policy making, project formulation and management of natural resources and the environment
