Energy from Waste for the Disabled Community
Energy from Waste for the Disabled Community
The project is in keeping with the country?s Nationally Determined Contribution and will reduce reliance on fossil fuels whilst reducing the net carbon footprint. Waste that would ordinarily go to a landfill, or attract vermin, will be converted to methane for cooking/baking and water-heating in the three facilities targeted. These Facilities are all under the control of the Grenada National Council of the Disabled (GNCD). Apart form the direct Climate Change mitigation significance of the project, it provides economic benefits to a community that is often dependent on direct and indirect financial support. Initially there will be the attendant cost savings due to the elimination of purchased ?cooking gas? and this will be augmented by the sale of gas to members of the community not resident in or connected to the three Facilities.

Goal:
To facilitate the energy independence of the selected Facilities with respect to fuel for cooking/baking and water heating

Objectives:
(i) To install the digester, storage units, connections, burners and associated paraphernalia
(ii) Determining the protocols for the Warranty-determined running in period
(iii) Production of gas for on-site consumption and sale.
