Towards a sustainable livelihoods in Betillu, Deir Ammar and Jamala villages.
The project main aim is to contribute to sustainable livelihood in Betillu, Deir Ammar and Jamalla villages through youth and women cooperatives empowerment and activation of domestic tourism.
Main activities:
1-Conduct introductory awareness workshop to introduce the project to the local community and relevant governmental and non-governmental institutions and to present the environmental problems of Al Hashimi Nature Reserve and the role of women and youth in the project.
2-Conduct capacity building programme: 60 training hours for 20 young males and females on eco-tourism guidance, first aid, effective communication skills and geographical and historical knowledge of Al-Hashmi Betillu, Deir Ammar and Jamalla.
3- Conduct capacity building for 15 women from targeted villages in management and marketing (48 hours for 10 days)
4- Organize a cultural event for 2 days and organize booths for women cooperatives and women from the targeted villages who manage small enterprises to sell/market their products in the cultural event.
5- Produce two a documentary films one on the different stages of the project and the other on the flora and funa biodiversity in AlHashimi Nature Reserve. Upload the two films on the social media outlets.
6- Create a 1 km long, 3m wide firebreak line in AlHashimi Nature Reserve.
7- Rehabilitate the Valley by removing invasive non-indigenous plants and rocks obstructing the flow of water.
8- Organize 8 visits to AlHashimi Nature Reserve for 360 participants.
9- Conduct final workshop to evaluate the project.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
An awareness raising film about flora and fauna biodiversity in the reserve was published on You-tube Channel and PalVision?s social media outlets to promote tourism life, until now the film reached out for total of 53,231 people, 22,315 people viewed the film, and 463 interacted with it. This film was designed to attract all ages and to be an educational reference. Al-Hashemi reserve was highlighted by new visitors from all around West Bank, where 8 tours and 2 cultural events were conducted to raise awareness about importance of AlHashemi, encouraging people from community members, Tulkarem, Ramallah, and Jerusalem to visit, and to live a remarkable experience. As well as promoting women products through organizing booths. Visitors expressed their willingness to visit the reserve on holidays
Gender Focus
Management and marketing capacity of women from targeted villages were enhanced; since women undertook training sessions and were able to practice skills, they gained by promoting and selling their products through two-day cultural events. Therefore, women cooperatives at Ein AlZarqa improved their ability in playing an active role in enhancing economical quality at the area.
