Enhancing the role of NGOs in the implementation of international environmental conventions.
The project aims to formulate a clear national vision for the implementation of global environmental treaties and national plans by promoting dialogue and partnership between environmental NGOs and the Palestinian government through the following activities: 1) Prepare an analysis study to review the local legislation relevancy with the international environmental conventions.. This analytical study of the Environmental Palestinian legislation will determine the gaps and principles for the implementation of global environmental treaties and conventions, whether at the expert level or local community level.
2) Work on reflecting and adopting the proposed legal modification in the local legislations and laws based on the results and recommendations of the study.
3) Organize sessions for selected communities (4 communities, 30 participants/ session) to raise their awareness on the principles and concepts of international environmental protection and the right to live in safe environment to ensure their ability to use the environmental law.
4) Prepare a manual on the procedures of developing a legal file on environmental crimes.
5) Conduct a training programme as following:
* Three training with 5 hours each for 45 trainees in 3 different locations (North, South and Middle) for the lawyers and legal advisers in the field of international environmental treaties and the Palestinian environmental law
* One training with 5 training hours for 15 trainees from the environmental NGOs in the field of international environmental treaties and the Palestinian environmental law.
* One training with 5 training hours for 20 trainers from related environmental and legal institutions and lawyers on how to document an environmental violations and procedures for preparing a legal file in environmental issues.
6) Produce broadcasting audible spots on the fundamental principles of international treaties. In addition to produce a film about the project activities and achievements.
7) Conduct final evaluation workshop.

Capacity - Building Component
1. The awareness about the international environmental conventions and primary 3 conventions were raised between the environmental NGOs and Palestinian lawyers. 3 training sessions in different locations were organized (Nablus, Bethlehem, Ramallah), 5 training hours per session (29 trainees in Ramallah, 21 trainees in Nablus, 27 in Bethlehem), in addition to one training session with 5 training hours was organized in Ramallah targeted 14 trainees. 2. Skills for environmental employees and Palestinian lawyers about documenting environmental violations were developed, and how to prepare a legal file report. One training session was organized with 5 training hours (21 trainees in Ramallah). 3. The Palestinian participation were enhanced in the international environmental forums, and the knowledge about negotiations at the governmental level was raised. 4.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
The awareness of environmental concepts and basic principls set out in the global environmental treaties was raised among environmental specialists and the local communities. 2 radio spots were produced targeting all Palestinian people.
