Conservation of threatened flora and fauna species in Fakou?a- Jenin
The project aims to: 1) Protect Faqou?s Iris and endogenous sp. in the area. 2) Develop concept note regarding local eco-tourism in Jalboun area.3) Increase the awareness of university students, school students, teacher and community on fauna and flora.
Project activities:
1-Conduct introductory workshop to introduce the project to the targeted local community and the reverent ministries, institutions and non-governmental institutions?
2-Survey fauna and flora in the targeted area to identify the endangered species.
3- Increase 30 university students? awareness on flora and fauna through conducting 5 scientific field trips trainings and 6 workshops.
4- Increase knowledge of15 local guides on ecotourism through conducting 5 scientific field trips trainings and 5 workshops.
5- Produce and publish a book ?500 copies? about flora and funa.?18*24 cm with 48 pages or more depend on the flora and fauna survey?
6- Define in coordination with the Environmental Quality Authority and Ministry of Agriculture 15-18 Km trails and mark the site to attract the ecotourism in the area.
7- Produce colored map and boards for the area.
8- Install 2 signboards for the project.
9- Prepare and produce 5 minutes documentary film in Arabic and English about project activities.
10- Conduct Faqou?a Iris photo competition and exhibition in Jenin and Ramallah.
11- Conduct 4 field trips for 200 school students to increase their awareness on the importance of biodiversity.
12-Establish 10 km educational site to protect Faqou?s Iris and endogenous sp. of the area.
13-Conduct final workshop to present results of all the activities and evaluate the project.

3. Increase 30 University students awareness on Flora and fauna through conducting 5 scientific field trips and 6 workshops. Training of students about collecting data and using the observation.org to save our data. .The students of the o The Arab American University - Jenin o The Al-Quds University ?Jerusalem. The students were also participated at this survey and learning more about the site and Location, around 70 students (50 females and 20 males) were sharing these activities During 8 days of work in different sessions of the year. They students have learned some information about the introduction of the scientist Classification of the Birds (Ornithologist-Botanist and Zoology) from the project expert> In addition to that the students were in the field with the project expert of the Flora and fauna and they have learned about the introduction to the flora and fauna of Palestine in general and about different ecosystem and they walked through the trail and visited the other area nearby Faqqua such as Jalboun, Arbouna, Dier Ghazalah, they have been realized 3 different ecosystems in the Area: Merj Ben Amer (such as Typha domingensis), The Mediterranean system (such as the carob) and the eastern Slops (Zuzfus) with some of the different of the plant Species from the filed By the end of these meeting and fieldtrips around 55 working hours the students were attend it and have been in the field for the real bird-watching and flora clarifications. And they helped to have the checklist of the flora and fauna species. 4. Increase knowledge of 15 local guides on ecotourism through conducting 5 scientific field trips trainings and 5 workshops. Around 14 participants (8 males and 6 females) from different back ground were participated at these activities from: Faqou?a, dier Ghazalah, Arana, East Jenin, Zababdah Deir Abu Daeef, Jalma and Arbouna, the have learned about: ecotourism in Palestine and the area , Flora and fauna Classification, geography and Topography of Palestine, History of the project area and around 120 working hours they have been involved and other 2 field trips to Hebron and Bethlehem they visited to learn more about the other Biodiversity and ecosystems in Palestine(Bethlehem including St Saba Monastery-Jerusalem wilderness ,Batter as a cultural heritage site and Salmon Pools) and Hebron Distract-Wadi Quff and Bani Naeem where is other GEF SGP project their). The group started to have a pioneer field trips from the area and they have been involved with the spring 2019 field visit from all over the west bank and some initiative by themselves to start these trip as their future plans and around 12 field trips they have involved, and some of them get some fees for their joining the trips.
