Celebrating 25 Years of Supporting Community Innovations and Stewardship Through Small Grants in Belize
This project will celebrate and showcase the work achieved in Belize and provide mechanisms for dissemination of the outputs achieved over the last 25 years of the GEF SGP Programme iand more recently through its partnership with the Oak Foundation, highlighting successes and lessons learnt. These will include 1) a highly visual 25 year publication, developed with the input of SGP staff and partner organizations; 2) an 8 to 10 minute video; 3) a 2 minute summary video for dissemination through national television; 4) a half day 25 year Celebratory Event; 5) social media-ready content on selected projects.
The project is linked most closely to SGP OP6 Component 7, ?Global Reach for Citizen Practice-Based Knowledge programme?, mechanisms for documenting and disseminating best practices and innovations, and providing an opportunity to showcase case studies that document the Community Landscape and Seascape Management Approach in Belize. It will highlight, in particular, the intiatives focused on the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve ? World Heritage Site ? the world-leading steps taken towards Managed Access, providing greater ownership of the reef environment by the fishers and coastal communities, and to the revision of the Fisheries Bill, strengthening the sustainability of the environment within which GEF SGP works in Belize.
