Three Parallel Rivers Area Community Landscape Conservation Support and Capacity Building
The various sacred mountains and forests managed by indigenous people not only plays an important role of stone step for animal migration and plant spread but also is of great important to maintain ecosystem and biodiversity. However, with the economic development and land use change, the sacred mountains and forests are severely threatened. The biodiversity in Three Parallel Rivers area is rich but also very vulnerable. The protection actions to this area through supporting sacred mountains and forests is urgently needed.

Main problems:
1. Sacred mountains and forests are lacking of appropriate recognition by government;
2. The traditional culture and belief on sacred mountains and forests is declining due to economic development, modernization and over exploitation;
3. The conservation effectiveness of sacred mountains and forests is ignored by official PA system;
4. It's needed to build a platform for government, NGOs and community dialogue and cooperation on community landscape conservation.

Solutions/activities:
1. conduct community sacred mountains and forest survey through documents research, field visit, PRA and SWOT analysis;
2. organize landscape stakeholders workshop to develop community landscape plan
3. policy recommendation on community landscape conservation

Anticipated results:
1. survey report on sacred mountains and forests in Three Parallel Area completed including ecosystem type, ecosystem functions, custom laws and mechanism of management, social-economic baseline information and digital map;
2. 35 people's capacity on community landscape conservation increased and a community landscape conservation plan developed;
3. a policy recommendation on community landscape conservation completed
