Agroforestry and sustainable production of pistachios (Pista) in the Dangara district
Agroforestry and sustainable production of pistachios (Pista) in the Dangara district
Dangara district is one of the largest rural districts of the Kulyab region of the Khatlon Oblast of Tajikistan, situated along the main route of Dushanbe - Dangara - Kulyab - GBAO - China and the Kulyab - Dangara - Kurgan-Tyube - Republic of Afghanistan, and is a free trade area.
Last years special attention has been paid to the development of horticulture and forestry, since the area is favorable for this spheres. This includes annual growth of pistachio (pista) plantations and now stands at 15,189 hectares, which is 18.5 per cent of the total area of the Republic.
Taking into consideration the favorable climate, features of local resources and the need of expansion, the developers intend to carry out information activities, rehabilitate old and organize new forestry-based plantations on the basis of Dangara Forestry and organize the workshop on processing and packaging of pistachios (pista) on the basis of LLC "Faizi Dangara" operating in jamoat Lolazor.
Unfortunately, the fruit productivity of pistachios decreases every year due to various factors. Currently, the matters of conservation and increasing of productivity of pistachio are dealt with by forestry and science workers, tenants and nature enthusiasts. This gives confidence that our descendants will be able to admire this miracle in a natural environment.
