Through the project, PPSS facilitates Low cost dry fish production through tunnel solar drier for fisher women SHGs in Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh Through this 2 months project:
Two solar tunnel driers are installed and 400 families are benefitted.
30 Women SHGs will manage the solar driers.
30 women SHG members are trained on producing good quality hygienic dry fish.
Women SHG members and other families started to earn better priced for dry fish.

Two solar tunnel dryers are set up and more than 240 families engaging in dry fish business and they are benefited out of the structures established. Women SHG members and village panchayath shown big stake and they started to manage the units with a workable procedure and guideline and they started using the tunnels.

? The technology support was given by Jeyasorna Agro Tech, Dindugul, TN and they provide one month warranty for the poly houses and equipments installed. The temperature inside the tunnel is between 500C and 600C during the summer months, the excess heat and humidity can be controlled by exhaust fans in the drier. Solar tunnel dryer with the f dimensions 12 m x 4 m x 2.65 m centre height was installed. Cement platform with 12 meter length and 4 meters width were constructed in the North south direction to prevent from the wind blowing from east. The drying chamber is in parabolic shape fabricated with Hard Dipped Galvanized structure. It is fitted with heat proof entry door. It has automatic control for maintaining humidity and heat. It also has exhaust arrangements to lend the air out if required. The roof is poly film with 200 Microns thickness
