This project has met all its outputs as follows: (i) A rapid assessment of the watershed was completed along with a vulnerability assessment; (ii) Existing land use was mapped; (iii) the western boundary for the park was determined; and (iv) a planning framework was proposed.

The consultative process was able to inform various communities while at the same time ascertaining that there was significant support for the establishment of an Agro Tourism Park.

The project created temporary employment during the three months of its implementation for three women, who cumulatively received a total of US$5000 in consultancy and catering fees.

Lessons Learned: Included the following: (i) Three months is inadequate for such a community planning project and the minimum planning period should be 6 months; (ii) To achieve the outputs one required a larger budget because it was only through strong negotiations with support from GEF SGP and the cooperation of the consultant, that the service of one of Saint Lucia's top Physical Planners was secured; (iii) A project of this extent must ensure that all stakeholders are on board very early in the planning process; (iv) Progress beyond the PG stage requires some level of political support to achieve optimal impact over time; and (v) the next stage of the planning process should ensure that there are early successes to ensure that the support of various communities is maintained.
