Panorkhom Bamboo Phasouk Management of Namsing Village, Viengphoukha District, Luangnamtha Province
Ban Namsing is a village tribe located in mountainous area, but has plenty of natural resources. The most outstanding thing is the huge amount of bitter bamboo which becomes Panorkhom Bamboo or bitter bamboo is also a kind of plant that southern people prefer to eat and cooking as a food. On the other hand, bitter bamboo can sale as a goods and can contribute as income generation to the household. However, the bitter bamboo harvest was decreased in each year due to the social economic growth as a source of demand for marketing is increasing as well as number of populations, which make the bitter bamboo harvest is rampant and uncontrolled, digging and pulling the root of bitter wood to find young bamboo this is a behavior of the harvest which will lead to the extinction. The other factor which makes bitter bamboo forest decreased is slash and burn. In Ban Namsing there is no regulation for management of bitter bamboo and villagers also do not have a permanence career such as animal livestock, they are very much dependent on natural nurtures. Therefore, the aims of project are to help on exactly define the bitter bamboo area; supplementary planting of bitter bamboo; expand the area of bitter bamboo forest more around 10 hectares; set the regulation on bitter wood for community as environmental conservation.
