Community Protecting and Sustainable Using the Natural Resources of Nongngome, Xaythany District, Vientiane Capital
Nong Ngome is located in the area of two villages, covering a large area, which is important to the villagers and has an importance for historical, belief and living heritage for more than three centuries. The villagers are lacking of knowledge on how to use the natural resources for sustainable development without destroying, and the main challenging thing of this two villages are to occupy the swamp area by their own as private property both internal and external factors. If Nong Ngome area has been trespassed, it will affect to food security; Nong Ngome will be dirty and dried out that will make it insufficient to supply water for the community and may lead to conflicts in access and use of ponds; decreasing on fish species and evacuation of the birds, which will make the abundance of food dropping drown, losing identity of the swamp. Therefore, the project aims to enhance the understanding and promoting the ownership on protection, utilization of natural resources in the right ways and sustainable manner without destroying or to occupy as a personal property by defining the area of the swamp zone clearly. Moreover, the project will emphasize on development and promoting on management regulations of Nong Ngome area in accordance with the principles of conservation and sustainable use of natural resources, which can be widely disseminated to the villagers.
