Strengthening Sustainable Community Watershed Forest Conservation through the Religious Practice and alternative income support,
Ban Naduang village has natural resources that community is dependent on the use of timbers and Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs); nature-reliant agriculture for subsistence; and touristic use of its attractive natural site like Kaeng-Nyui waterfall. Due to the growth of the population number, the nature dependent livelihood is having a risk from the unsustainable way of the natural resources use, such as the commercial use of the NTFPs and wildlife, increasing usage of timber, fast development of the touristic site, the increasing needs for food demand and the use of the chemical substance into cultivation activities. Especially, the protected forest area of Ban Naduang is considered as an important watershed area of the rivers in Vang Vieng city. Thus, it is an urgent need to have a clear and effective management regime as well as a sustainable way of using the forest resources. Therefore, the aim of the project is providing an effective management of community forest and protected forest. Furthermore, project will involve the need of the community to receive a support in terms of organic agricultural production for subsistence and market product. Moreover, Ban Naduang is currently a ?Home-stay? village which receives tourists who want to experience nature. Even this might be a challenge to the forest management the future, though it is a potential market opportunity for the organic agriculture.
