Khapeur swarm is located between three villages: Kangpa, Phonethan and Dongyang, Xaybouly district, Savannakhet province. Khapeur is a natural swarm that has existed for hundreds of years. Swarm has area around 1,100 hectares which is abundance with natural resources and has water throughout the year. The nearby villagers are dependent on natural resources especially in the swarm area for fishing, collect vegetables and etc. since their ancestors. In recent year, the number of populations is increasing day by day as a result on food demand and supply which is leading to the consumption of natural resources more and more. In future, Khapeur swarm might be slowly degrading if lack of planning on management and control, the number of biodiversity which is a food resource of villagers will decrease as well. Therefore, the project aims are to promote villager?s participation on natural resources conservation, recognize the issue that will be occurred due to over consumption and to seek the approaches for natural conservation to be as a model for other areas by the participation of villagers and the management with related organizations in Xaybouly district, Savannakhet province.
