The Sanjiangyuan area is located in the south of Qinghai province, which is the head-stream of the Yangtze River, the Yellow River and the Langcan-Meikong River. The average altitudes is over 4000m. There are rich biodiversity in this area including 85 animal species such as snow leopard and Tibetan antelope and 237 bird species such as black-necked crane. 90% of population is Tibetan people. There are lots of sacred mountains and lakes respected by the local people.

Main problems:

2. Establish a database of sacred mountains and lakes in Sanjiangyuan area and provide support on conservation policy and practice;
3. set up an interactive platform for community conservation practitioners.

Anticipated results/outcomes:
1. A database of ecological and cultural information of 30 sacred mountains and lakes in Sanjiangyuan area established;
