The main objective of the project was to improve the income of the Wichi indigenous communities through the incorporation of sustainable practices and conservation of biodiversity.
It focused on generating a development strategy to accompany the indigenous community through the strengthening of the women's organization, actions related to the recovery of traditional resources for artisanal production and the generation of new interventions to improve the quality of life of the entrepreneurial Wichi artisans and the community in general.
The project permanently envisages the strengthening of the Chitsaj Association, made up of 100% women, transferring capacities to the organization's coordinators.
The beneficiaries are the 150 women members of the organization formed in 2012 from the development of the chaguar fiber artisan activity, with a board of directors made up of 6 coordinators, who work together to design the commercial strategy, organization and improvement of the quality of life of all members.
In the development of the project, more than 120 hectares of chaguar were planted, generating access to raw materials for the 150 artisans. Also a chaguar shredding machine was acquired, which was essential to increase income and improve the competitiveness of artisanal production. The introduction of this new technology considerably improved the working conditions of women.
