The project managed to generate productive alternatives for family farmers, maintaining and enhancing the ecosystem services of the Paraná jungle. For this, a production chain began to be structured, based on the collection of native fruits and their subsequent pulping and transformation into products with higher value (jams, sweets and ice creams).
Specific results:
? Installation of a native fruit processing room that allows them to collectively produce products
? Diversification of income through the sale of new products.
? Awareness has been raised about the importance of the tree component in the mitigation of climate change, its benefits in the short (use) and long term. Native species are more valued.
? Small fruit trees per family have been implanted for self-consumption.
? The volume of native fruit plants that each family has has been increased.
? Native trees have been protected and implanted on the banks of the silvopastoral module stream.
In the context of the project, more than 15,000 trees were planted as a direct contribution to carbon capture, protection of water courses and forest enrichment of the farms.
The beneficiaries were 35 families. The workshops related to the pulping and elaboration of native fruit products brought together mainly the women, who found a space to share different ways of transforming and preserving the fruits. In addition, as part of the project, monthly environmental education workshops were offered in 3 schools in Santiago de Liniers, reaching more than 200 children and their families.
The project built effective and efficient partnerships with Universidad Nacional de Misiones, Universidad de Buenos Aires, INTA (Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria) y la Secretaría de Agricultura Familiar.
