- A pre-project implementation sensitization meeting was held on 26 August 2018 in Kerewan for the target communities and other partners. In attendance at the meeting were the Regional Governor and Deputy, The Chairperson of Kerewan Area Council, The District Chiefs of Upper Badibou and Jokadou District, The Regional Disaster Management Office, The Lady Councillors and Ward Councillors of the 2 districts and other local partners. The meeting was aired on the national television, the Kerewan community radio and featured in the local press. The sensitization meeting was attended by 75 participants (40 male and 35 female) drawn from the 2 districts where the project is being implemented. At the meeting, the project deliverables were discussed in detail and the implementation plan was finalised.

- Following the community sensitization on climate change were conducted for the project beneficiary communities. 4 community sensitization sessions were held in the village of Jumangsarr Ba in Upper Badibou district. The project team also visited 12 other communities and conducted climate change sensitization meetings. The 12 communities visited were: India, Jajari, Katchang, Jumangsarr koto, Conteh kunda Niji, Conteh kunda sukoto, Darsilameh, Kerr Gumbo, Kerr Alhagi malick, Ndrammeh Joka, Daru Fodayba and Tambana.

- A 3-day capacity building programme was organised for 59 selected women farmers drawn from the 20 intervention communities. At this training, Climate Smart Agriculture concept and approach was discussed in great detail. The role of CSA in adapting to climate change was also discussed highlighting the benefits when compared to conventional agriculture as was the status quo in all these communities. A total of 675 participants (589 female and 176 male) participated in these CSA training programme.

- At the conclusion of the CSA training, agricultural inputs in the form of seeds was provided to the 59 women farmers to set up farms where CSA would be practiced. At the training, they were demonstrations on how to make compost and organic pesticides to control pest infestations.

- A gender baseline survey and analysis was conducted in the project communities to identify the constraints women farmers are faced with regarding access to land.

- As one of the project objectives which seeks to increase access to land by women farmers, a land rights campaign was organised in 2 villages pooling together participants from different villages. In the first meeting held in Illiasa villages, participants were drawn from the villages of India, Conteh kunda Niji, Conteh kunda Sukoto, Noo kunda. In the second meeting held in Daru Fodayba in Jokadou district, participants came from the villages of Kerr Gumbo, Chessy Majaw, Kerr Alagie Malick and Karantaba. In both meetings, women that had already acquired their own land though inheritance, expressed their desire to have their land registered with government as safeguards. Also present at the meetings were representatives form Area Councils, Alkalos, Chiefs, women elected Councillors and Chairpersons of the Village Development Committees (VDCs).

- 59 farmers were taken on a study tour to 2 institutions practicing Climate Smart Agriculture namely; The Njawara Agricultural Training Centre and the Charmen Agricultural Training Centre where the participants exchange experiences on CSA.

- Land Rights Campaigns aimed at promoting access to land by women were successfully conducted in the districts of Jokadou, Lower Badobou and Upper Badibou.

- 2 interface meetings were successfully conducted in Kerr Jatga village and Illiasa which brought together members of the communities including women and District Authority Representatives mainly Chiefs to discuss land issues.

- A 3-day training programme was conducted in Kerewan from18 - 20 December 2018 for women Councillors on Women's Rights to land as well as The Children's Act and the role of the Councillor in regional inclusive development.

- After a series of successful land rights campaigns by the project, 43 women farmers acquired land ownership. The transfer process has now been completed and all 43 women now have title deeds to their land.

- To empower the women farmers engaged in CSA farming, start up inputs including seeds, and small ruminant livestock was provided to 59 85 women farmers to enable them become independent and self sustaining in their farming activities and thus lift them from the status of poor, marginalized and vulnerable segment of the population.
