- The project aims to improve the fertility levels of farmlands which have been on a decline due to land degradation and leading to declining crop yields and increased poverty levels among farmers in Jokadou District. The innovation adopted by the project will b agroforestry whereby leguminous trees and crops will be included in the farming systems.

- 10 farmers within the district will be selected for piloting the project through agroforestry where they will be provided with seedlings of leguminous trees such as Acacia albida, Acacia seyal, Leucena and other trees such a cashew, Moringa etc. In addition, the farmers will aslo be supplied with cowpea seeds for inter planting with their traditional crops.

- for each of he 10 farmers, a 3-day training was conducted to build their capacities on agroforestry and ways of enhancing the nutrient levels of their farmlands through cultural practices such as crop rotation and crop residue management. -

- The tree nursery in the village of Bali Mandinka was revived by rehabilitating the well through the installation of a water tank and solar panels for water lifting. The nursery propagated and 1, 800 seedlings was planted on the farms of the 10 beneficiary farmers.
